Established in 1929, The Packengers is a global packing and shipping company specialising in the safe worldwide shipment of unique and fragile valuables.
As an organisation offering a sophisticated e-logistics service, managing inventory, cataloguing and photography for digital sales for the likes of auction houses, art dealers, luxury goods suppliers and ecommerce outfits, The Packengers is very much technology dependent.
With offices already established in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Spain and Moscow, The Packengers was ready to institute a presence in London.
Following a recommendation by the Colnaghi Art Gallery in West London for whom we’d recently reinstated vital internet access to enable a high profile exhibition to go ahead, The Packengers made contact with our team for assistance in getting them set up with IT and telephony services for their new London headquarters situated near Heathrow.
For their six-user office, the company required full networking infrastructure, both wired and wireless. They were also looking for a file sharing solution to streamline cross-border collaboration, as well as a high speed internet service to support their high dependency on technology and ensure sooth running services for their clients. With prominent clientele such as Bonhams and Sotheby’s to take care of, providing a sleek end-to-end service was crucial.
As well as offices, the London headquarters also incorporated warehousing, which also needed to be Wi-Fi connected.
Hardware wise, staff were to be issued with Apple iPhones and iPads, all of which needed mobile tariffs. HP laptops, desktop PCs, dual monitors with mounts, docking stations and wireless chargers were also on the wish list, on the proviso that they matched existing kit.
Our carefully planned solution provided everything the six users needed to provide an efficient service from the new London branch.
For seamless collaboration and communication with overseas headquarters, we provided PC Docs Hosted Unlimited GB Exchange Mailboxes and a PC Docs Cloud Drive. And for the super-high speed internet that was so vital, we settled on our Tel High Speed Internet, installed and managed by the PC Docs team alongside a class-leading DrayTek router, a fully integrated network solution with business grade features such as firewall, VPN, content filtering and bandwidth management.
Wireless access points were supplied and installed around the premises and, thanks to our expert technicians, we achieved full coverage throughout both the office and warehouse areas.
In terms of the network, reliability and speed were essential must-haves. We installed a complete Cat6 networking infrastructure to ensure these goals were met.
For the hardware, we were tasked with matching existing laptops, a challenge we met by sourcing an exact fit, sourcing and installing them complete with the required docking stations.
Because it was vitally important that high resolution images could be taken as items were collected, we recommended iPhone 12s and iPad 11 Pros for their superior quality cameras.
In addition, we chose iPads with cellular connectivity so that images and information could be directly uploaded at client properties, saving time and making the entire collection process so much more efficient. All iPhones and iPads were supplied over a 36-month term with unlimited data tariffs, which means every member of The Packengers’ London team can rely on uninterrupted internet at all times.
